Jimmy M. Lago, Managing Director, Client Relationship Management


Mr. Jimmy Lago is Managing Director of Client Relationship Management. He is responsible for The Pelican Group’s business development and client engagements.

As Chancellor for the Archdiocese of Chicago from 2000-2013, Jimmy Lago managed and coordinated the activities of the departments and agencies/offices within the Pastoral Center and oversaw specific functions under the headings of planning, management and communications. Prior to his position as Chancellor, from 1996-2000, he was Associate Executive Director, and then Executive Director of The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Before joining Catholic Charities, Mr. Lago spent 20 years with the Catholic Conference of Illinois, the last ten years as Executive Director.

Mr. Lago serves and has served on multiple boards including the Illinois State Treasurer’s Advisory Council on Financial Education and Literacy (2011-present), the Center for Child Welfare and Education Advisory Board, IDCFS, Northern Illinois University (2000- present), and as a Mayoral appointment to the Chicago Workforce Board (1998- present). He has also served on many committees interfacing between the Church and civic communities, most notably as delegate to the White House Briefing on National Alliance Against Pornography (1990-1991) and in 1994 for the White House Briefing/Debate on National Healthcare Reform.

Mr. Lago has received numerous civic and ecclesial awards. In 2012, he was named an Equestrian Order Knight of St. Gregory and received the Distinguished Service Award from the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools that same year. In 2011 Mr. Lago was awarded the “As Those Who Serve” Award from the Cardinal Bernardin Center, Catholic Common Ground Initiative. He was honored with the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Medal in 2001 and in 1996 received the Appreciation Award from Joseph Cardinal Bernardin. Mr. Lago was named a Knight of the Holy Selulchre in 1986 by Pope John Paul II.

Mr. Lago holds a B.A. degree from DePaul University and master’s degrees in Social Work and Business Administration from the University of Illinois and Loyola University. Jimmy and his wife reside in Berwyn, Illinois with their twin sons.
